An end run
Around the prescribed life
To find a unique solution

Stairs lead downward
To a rattling sorrow
The marbled foyer that presents them
Teems with voices
Who lie in wait

Like me
Waiting, wondering, wishing
My mental voice echoes
Against an impatient background
Of hope

Was today the day?
In the blur of conversation
I can't remember the facts
Only the feelings
That break my heart

Stumbled upon my friend's FB profile the other day... she passed away shortly before her 40th birthday (breast cancer)... and wall post after wall post after wall post of people wishing her a happy birthday in heaven was powerfully humbling and awakening all at the same time.

No time like the present, eh, to do those things that we always intended to do.
