I'm tired of the dating frenzy that I've been on. But I always say that it's a numbers game; that you have to meet a lot of ladies to find one that is right for you and you right for her. I simply can't date. I don't like it. It frustrates me. I want to be working towards a relationship, not just frolicking about (frolicking, as in skipping through the woods, not baring all).
I still get nervous. Although I have to admit, I was less nervous meeting a new girl yesterday than I'd been recently. I liked the fact that we both just threw caution to the wind and decided to meet about a day and a half after we'd first spoken on the phone. Perhaps the degree of being nervous is inversely proportional to the likelihood that you'll be a fantastic match?
And it was nice. Very nice. Picture a super cute, intelligent, bubbly, talkative, smiley Jayhawk that likes to drink red wine... yes, if you know me you're thinking, "BINGO!"
Disclaimer for the lady I speak of: Although I write about my life, I don't give out too many details... privacy is importante to me. So, we're gonna call you MJ for this post, hence the picture of Mary Jane (MJ) and Spiderman, but minus the whole superhero thing because I don't think my job is to save you all the time. ;)
Two hours and two glasses. Malbec. It was good, but the taste of the conversation was so much better. There would have been no wine savory enough to outdo the verbal consumption that took place. I have to admit, however, that I really had to focus on listening because I felt so engaged by everything... her open body language, her wonderful smile, the ring-built-from-a-Ming-vase couture, the way that she tucks her hair behind her ears all of the time (again, for those that know me, that's something I love)... the restaurant didn't exist around us beyond our circle of conversation.
Time flies when you're having fun. Sure does. Two hours felt like 30 minutes and I had to leave and scurry home to babysit my 4 year old niece, but I surely didn't want to leave the conversation.
I offered to escort her down the sidewalk and she let out a heart-warming, "Awwwww," that made my heart smile. When we got to the corner we hugged and through excited banter I started talking about seeing each other again soon and explaining what I had going on and MJ just looked at me and said, "Saturday?"
"YES!" I replied and had then had to quickly turn the corner to get home and babysit.
It didn't dawn on me until later that the screetching of brakes that I heard might have had something to do with her crossing the street in the same distracted, cloud-nine place that I found myself.
We'd agreed to meet on Saturday at the top of the Hyatt; Sky's Restaurant. But on that Saturday, she never arrived. I wasn't sure what to make of it. Over the next week I tried to reach her by email and phone, but nothing. I even walked the streets of the Plaza hoping that I would randomly run into her... there was just no way that she didn't feel the same as I felt when we last parted.
Wait... that was a movie, "An Affair to Remember." Sorry. ;)
MJ did almost get hit by a car when we parted, but fortunately she caught herself stepping into the street. She didn't get hurt, so I'm taking the opportunity to rib her about it. Heehee!
Maybe MJ was in dreamyland? That would be nice.

oh come now, admit that you refer to her as "MJ" to satisfy your penchant for wearing tights!
:-)
Hmmmm... I don't think I've ever even had tights on. Although my long underwear for foul weather, offshore sailing is kinda nice and comfy.
I'll get back to you on that one.
Fortunately her stepping in the street and brakes screeching didn't have a "Meet Joe Black" ending!
Hopefully Saturday goes well and you can end the frolicking!
MJB, one of my fav flicks... losing your father, but gaining your true love and soul mate... difficult.
How about just improve the frolicking by doing it with the same great lady?
;)
One of the greatest movies!
Frolicking with the same one over and over again sounds nice.
