Rockfish Day #1

My first day in The Reef (yeah, Rockfish live near the reef, check it)--a mere 72 hours after I first visited the company*--and AdAge ranks us third out of their ten A-list companies for 2010. SHAZAM! This is incredible recognition for an agency that's just gotten started in life, four years young, but our growth, portfolio, and team are simply that spectacular. AdAge has alerted the world--be on notice, these are Rockfish waters.

*Apparently I have a thing for starting on the Monday after a Friday interview, since I did the same thing at 4INFO. :-)

I commuted in (193 miles) from KC this morning, not something that I will be doing on a regular basis, but needed to fill up the car with clothes so I could get down here and focus on the lures that we want to carry around in our tackle box. I spent the day adapting to the waters and getting acquainted with my new school mates. A lot to learn and a lot to do in an environment that I enjoy--casual, but energetic.

I look forward to Day #2, since I won't have spent three hours on the road before starting it.

Now, GO MIZZOU!

Where's Bob? Two-festing & Road-trippin'

Bobby Blogger took a few days off, have you missed me? I'm going to give you a quick photo montage to get you caught up with what's going on in my world.

After having been immobile for most of the year, I've broken out and taken to the road! WOOT!

First photo is a shot from the Lee's Summit, MO Oktoberfest where my niece did the cutest little dance number ever... sassy-walk girl! She's just the cutest lil' thing and loves to dance pretty much non-stop all day and night. SMOOCH!

The next photo is from the KC Beer Festival (hence the play on words with Two-festing) where a good time was had. Unfortunately we hit up three bars AFTER the BeerFest and that pretty much ruined my entire Sunday. I definitely made a new friend in Brenda at the first bar we visited, then completely copped-out on a real dinner and macked on some chili-cheese fries (which will be the death of me), totally don't remember a debate about preferences in regard to sexual frequency (which I'm sure was more interesting than the VP Debate last week) and then hit up another bar on the way home. I think the tally was about a case of beer, three DarkRum+OJs and two Negronis. Oops.

Photo #3 was snapped cruising east on I-80 through Iowa. It's tough to tell, but this SUV flew past me swerving all over the road. The SUV was covered with Obama stickers and the trailer had a bunch of banners duct-taped to it. I later saw the trailer make an emergency roadside stop... hopefully this isn't an indicator of the campaign trail yet to come for the Senator.

The fourth photo is from last Saturday night. The Cubs got swept, but some lady in the bar was having a Bachelorette or Birthday party (after a day of bocce ball and drinking I can no longer remember which) and she made us all feel better with the best chocolate cupcakes I've ever had in my life. Thanks, Cupcake Lady. BTW, MIZZOU kicked some Cornhusker arse that night which made this MO boy feel better than the IL crew.

Reader VOTE...
Where should I stop on the way home from Chicago?
  • The Bridges of Madison County (& home of John Wayne).
  • Herman, MO Oktoberfest.
  • A B&B somewhere on the Mississippi River.
  • An MU game at Faurot Field.
  • Tour an ethanol plant.

Mobile Ads & Alerts

4INFO, one of my former haunts, had an interesting ad in a text alert that they sent me last night announcing another loss for my beloved Royals.
"*DRIVE SMART! AVOID FLOODED WASHES/ROADS!"
It's a branding message because there is no link, but there's also no brand. So, I suppose it's simply public awareness, but who's paying for it? And, knowing that 4INFO can target ads geographically (although I'm a Missouri resident with a San Diego area code), I'm wondering if that aspect is coming into play at all. Perhaps my peeps at FINFO will provide some insight.

For all my renewed Mid-western friends, you need to set up your free MU/KU/KC text alerts NOW!
  1. Address a text message to 4-4-6-3-6, which spells 4-I-N-F-O on your phone.
  2. In the body of the message, type "alert missouri tigers" or "alert kansas jayhawks" or "alert kc chiefs" to have scores automatically texted to your phone.
  3. If you want to get alerts more often, like every time the score changes, visit http://4info.net, sign in and set alerts to your heart's content!
If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be happy to assist!
