39 & 40 of 52 Book Goal

Fell a bit short on my 52 book goal this year. Started strong, as I usually do, but totally fell off the pace when I started working down in Bentonville. Oops. Made a nice run at the end to lessen the pain for 2011 (that start to follow), as I have vowed to make up for my shortfall.

40/52: The Winner Stands Alone by Paulo Coelho, 2.5.5 Stars
Man, did I ever catch a lot of crap for reading Coelho down here in South America. I admit, I still list The Alchemist as one of my favorite books, but I've not read much by him since that really intrigues me apart from an enjoyable Brida. This book was no exception. Aside from a brief intrigue about the dark side of thought, the ending was totally unacceptable! Well, to me. :-)

39/52: The Ten Faces of Innovation by Thomas Kelley, 4/5 Stars
Great book by one of the leaders at IDEO, an idea agency that serves as a model for many other thought leadership companies in the world. I always enjoy reading about archetypes and Kelley does a good job of describing the influences that are needed to form successful teams.
