FOX4 TailDating Video

FOX4 posted the video from the news last night and you can view it by clicking here [no longer online]. Still haven't found a date for the CHIEFS game tomorrow, so I better get on that this afternoon!

However, the news is spreading and my friends all say that they are "on the task!"

Thank you, all! Especially to Tony's KC Blog, for I'm sure that all this was started because he decided to post about my idea.

Saw the interview on FOX4 News tonight?

If you've arrived at my blog because you've seen the interview with me on FOX4 Kansas City news this evening, then feel free to contact me at
this email address, or simply leave a comment on my blog. If you want to be my TailDate at the Chiefs game this weekend, then be sure to tell me all about who you are and attach photos. ;) Thank you!

Why BigBadBobby? I'm not big, nor bad. When I was a kid, my neighbor was a dentist and HAMM radio hobbyist. He gave me the handle and then etched it on the back of my toothbrushes each time I came for a check up.

As an aside, I totally enjoyed meeting Tess and Colton the Cameraman (sorry if I spelled your name wrong, Colton). We had a blast doing to interview!

Big props to Scooter's Coffee Shop and O'Dowds, both on The Plaza, for hosting our endeavors this afternoon.

There are tornado sirens going off everywhere, so stay safe KC!

Interview by FOX4 KC Today

It's on. I'm getting interviewed in about an hour my FOX4's Tess Koppelman about "Dating in Kansas City."

All of this started with the TailDating thing where I have two tickets to the Chiefs game this weekend and I'm trying to find a date! This is my marketing-meets-dating mind at work!

We'll be doing an interview in one location and then we will do some social shots at a local bar (Tess' idea). The more I thought about it, the more I think that might be the perfect place to actually find my date for the game. Hmmmmmmmm... everyone in the bar will know that I'm single and looking.

Knock. Knock. Opportunity here... we'll see! I'll be sure to blog more about it later and post the video if they make it available online.

Be sure to watch or record the FOX4 News at 9 and/or 10PM tonight!

Today's the Big Day!

reVerse was a bust last night. Nice girl, cute, but we didn't click in conversation... it was pretty dissonant. I've been using the word "confrontational," but that seems to have a physical connotation to it which was by no means present in our banter.

So, I'm still looking for a date to the game this weekend!

However, today could be a big day. I'll find out in a few hours whether my new favorite local journalist will get to do a feature on dating in Kansas City. If so, then we'll do the interview this afternoon and it could, possibly, air tonight. I'll keep everyone posted.

I was thinking back to the conversation that I had with said journalist the other day. She said something that made me chuckle when she asked if I thought being interviewed would be too "overwhelming." Nah, bring it on... heck, I'm the guy that gives speeches standing on chairs and throws caution to the wind with regularity.

If nothing else, I'll hopefully have a new friend in our journalist, for I have enjoyed our conversations!

Empty Tank Alert: You have .28 miles left

I'm beat. I've been saying it all week because it's true. It's a physical and an emotional beating. Physically, I'm tired of driving all over town on all these dates or meetings... I've stopped calling them dates because there doesn't even seem to be much pre-qualification associated with them anymore.

Can you type in complete sentences? Sure, let's meet. I've even been ignoring the typical spelling and grammar errors that drive me nuts.

Emotionally, sifting through all the emails from Match.com and Craigslist, plus keeping all of my inquisitive friends in the loop, just gets tiring. It's also tiring to not see a great match in all of the traffic that I've generated this week with the "TailDating" thing.

The tank needs wine (said in your best "The Donger need food" voice).

I'm trying to remember all the crazy things that I've seen this week:
  • If you're approaching 50 and send me a photo of your 21 year old son throwing up gang signs, I'm not interested on several fronts no matter how nice you seem.
  • If you send me a photo with a cig dangling from your lips, I'm not interested.
  • If you live more than 30 minutes away (by car), I'm not interested even though seeing how you TailDate college-style might be fun.
  • If you just want to "date" with no cares in the world or no discussion of a future, then I'm not interested.
  • I've you've got 10 cats, I'm not interested.
  • If your email address has "dirty" in it, then I'm not interested.
  • If you refer to yourself as a "princess," then I'm not interested.
If you qualify for any of the above, then please reread the "things I want."

Going to happy hour and having wine now... and yes, I'm taking a book and I'm going to read it in the middle of the bar no matter how crowded it is. Refill. Recharge.

Remedy Needed: Puke in Hair

Seems like there are several Moms reading my blog now... of course, they all email me instead of posting comments. It's OK to post, Moms!

I need your help this morning. I'm the ranking (and only) adult on site this morning since my sis is out of town on business and my bro-in-law has already left for work.

I can hear you asking, "You live with your sister?" Yeah, call McKenzie House in Denver, my developer, and tell them to FINISH BUILDING MY DANG CONDO! On that note, we're about two weeks away from closing (I hope).

Drum roll...

How do you get puke chunks out of my 4 year old niece's hair?

What DO I want?

With all this talk about "TailDating" and interviews with reporters and such, people keep asking me, "Bobby, what is it that you are looking for?"

I want someone to share my life with that understands that the goal is to walk side-by-side, hand-in-hand as often as possible. But we both realize that there are times when one needs to lead or the other needs to be led. We take care of business, take care of each other and get back to tackling challenges together.

More specifically:
  • Female
  • Single
  • Age 28-38
  • An intelligent, old soul, introspective woman that puts thought into conversation.
  • A wise, mature, street-smart woman that has many experiences to draw from in her young life to assist in decision-making.
  • A motivated, goal-oriented, strong woman who will walk side by side with me to conquer life’s challenges. But, one that can take the lead or let me lead when the time calls for it.
  • A woman who will appreciate my chivalrous demeanor.
  • A fun-loving woman with a wild streak, but one that knows when etiquette is needed.
  • An active, athletic woman who can go with the flow or set the pace.
  • A naturally cute, casual woman who can just throw on a hat and head out the door.
  • A woman that understands love for a family and wants to start one of her own.
  • A woman who enjoys art, culture, and giving back to the community.
  • A woman who enjoys creativity in task, problem-solving, and spontaneity.
  • A woman who keeps her nose in a book more often than a mirror.
By no means do I believe that there is someone out there that meets every one of these wishes. I believe that there are always trade-offs that have to be made between people that want to be together. In the above list, there are bullets that are more important to me than others... if I really wanted to provide a list, then I'd weight the items in it. Perhaps another night when I'm not propping up my eyelids with toothpicks.

I also believe that our imperfections, if you will, are what make us unique. I don't believe in perfection and who would want it anyhow? In this country's culture we are constantly trying to improve ourselves. Learn by doing. Learn by making mistakes. This is how we are... adolescent and constantly learning. You can't improve perfect, so it doesn't define us as Americans.

What do YOU need?

Rappin' with a Local Reporter

Just got off the phone with one of Kansas City's finest newshounds. I won't yet reveal the name of said journalist, but let it be known that I very much enjoyed the conversation! We spoke of life, career and the chase for love.

More specifically, we conversed about dating in the mid-west compared to other places in the country. We spoke about how online dating here seems to be mostly filled with people that are new in town. We spoke about how Craigslist is a crap shoot. We agreed that the traditional network is still the way that most people meet, i.e. friends of friends, but that you can exhaust that network quickly. Without new ways to increase that network, you find that it becomes stale.

Yet, that is where the new social networking tools help you to see who is in your extended network. If you are single and on Facebook, then you've probably looked at your friends' photos and wondered, "Who's that girl?"

Ya just never know. We also spoke about this "TailDating" thing and how the experiment is going. Ms. Journalist and I will look to converse again on Friday.

Stay tuned!

TailDating: Update #2 (Wednesday Morning)

A flurry of activity took place late last night in regard to this TailDating thing where I'm trying to find a date for this weekend's Chiefs game (9/14). Several new inquiries came in via email, new comments were placed on a few local KC blogs and I received an information request from a local TV station.

This morning I'll be sending the TV station a quick brief and updating the web site to make for an easier branding opportunity, i.e. easier to remember where to tell people to go to find out more information.

If you'd like to read about this from the beginning or decide whether you'd like to meet me, please start here.

TailDating: Update #1 (Monday Night)

This is the first update to the TailDating (dating at a tailgate party) foray that I have in progress this week. You can read about the beginning of the idea here.

I have a few days to find a date to the Raiders @ Chiefs game this weekend. So far, we've had entries from two girls, both who found the ad that I posted on Craigslist. Others have chimed in and sent the link to family members, friends and peers. Thank you!

We also received some fantastic promotion from Tony's Kansas City blog, check out what he had to say.

Keep it going!

Read the second update.

TailDating at the CHIEFS game this weekend!

Two summers ago, I had a pocket full of dough and wanted to fulfill the lifelong dream of seeing a ballgame in every MLB stadium. I was gonna rent an RV and start checking those ballparks off the list. Most of those that I hadn't seen were on the east coast... which is nice since you only drive a couple of hours from one city to the next. The exception stadiums, of course, are where teams like the Bluejays, Marlins and Astros play... kinda out there and isolated.

I didn't want to just leave it at that, though. I decided that I'd video blog the entire trip. When I pulled into town I'd have two tickets to a game and I'd have to find a date. The hope was that we'd turn it into a fun exercise, maybe even a little parking lot competition to meet interesting women. Why? Well, 'cause ya just never know when you'll find the right one, do ya?

I'm not saying that I think I'd find my true love in a parking lot or even on TV (see "The Bachelor" story), but I'm sure you could meet some fun people!

What happened? I decided to follow a good friend into politics for a little while.

So, here I am in Kansas City dating my ass off... something like 5 different girls on 5 dates in 5 weeks and I've met some very interesting, cute, intelligent ladies, but you know the drill. The ones I like don't like me and I don't like the ones that like me. That's way over-simplified, but you get my drift, I'm sure. I must say, however, that I really did enjoy my time out last weekend at O'Dowds and Tom's... good conversation with someone!

And, I have two amazing 3rd row, visitor-side tickets to the HOME OF THE CHIEFS vs. the despised RAIDERS this weekend... maybe it's time to have a little fun with this sports-dating thing, eh?

How to help me find a taildate:
  1. Here is an image and some pictures from my Match.com profile. View now!
  2. Send an email to this address if you want to apply or recommend someone for the weekend tailgate and date.
  3. Tell your friends about my quest to find a date this weekend! You never know who might know someone that knows someone that knows someone that might click!
  4. Stay tuned to this blog via the blog feed for updates.
Thank you!

Ambient Awareness

Excellent article on the "ambient awareness" of social tools that allow you to update your status constantly, such as Facebook and Twitter.

By the way, you can see my "tweets" in the right hand column of my blog and follow me on Twitter here.
